Couldn't agree more! I'm curious and frankly a bit nervous to see where the practice will end up in the next 20 years. It feels similar to recycling, where the act and responsibility of recycling was pushed onto the consumers early on, rather than pushing corporations to innovate with environmentally-friendly products. I see this as a stepping stone for businesses to start truly pushing their wages onto consumers, and rather than in-turn lowering prices, accepting higher profits for themselves and shareholders alike.

The 20-year timeline truly is a mystery, especially since the Act is only a 4-year break unless renewed. It'll be interesting to see how its readdressed then.

I like your recycling comparison too. I know people who don't bother to recycle at all because of the push to consumers instead of corporations. I could see consumers move in that direction with tipping as well.

If other industries follow, maybe companies will lean more into 1099 contracts rather than W2s, truly leaving the employees pay up to their own performance and consumer sentiments. Something I'll definitely continue to think about!

Thank you! This topic has been on my mind for a while and with the Act being passed it seemed like the perfect time to touch on it.
